Plea to reject Mashelkar's report

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) The Lok Sabha today urged heard the plea to to reject the report submitted by eminent scientist R S Mashelkar on patenting laws on the grounds that it had been copied from an international report favouring multi-national companies.

Raising the issue during the zero hour, Mr Hannan Mollah(CPI-M) said the report by on patent laws had raised a serious controversy as a section of the report had been copied from some international report favouring the multi-national companies. ''This constituted an act of plagiarism and cheating,'' he added.

Describing his recommendations as ''against the interests of India'', the CPI-M member called for rejecting his report as it had created an ''embarrassment for the country''.

Stating that the former Chairman of the Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research had gone beyond the Terms of Reference, Mr Mollah demanded constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to look into the whole matter.

Check discrimination against Hindus in J and K: BJP

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) The BJP today expressed concern over the plight of and discrimination against Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir and their subsequent migration from various parts of the state following terrorist threats and demanded Centre's intervention. The Party also demanded a ban on the use of the word 'kinnar' in the context of eunuchs saying 'kinnar' was actually inhabitant of Kinnaur and therefore, hurt the sensibilities of the people of that place. Satellite communication network to link border outposts

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has finalised a project for installation of satellite-based communication network to link border outposts in its area of responsibilities, including Sino-Indian borders, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. The project, which seeks to provide complete secure communication on voice, FAX, Data, video conferencing and Internet facility, was under the consideration of the Home Ministry, Minister of State for Home Shri Prakash Jaiwal said in a written reply. India proposes 10-km stretch along its border with Myanmar

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) India has not received any favourable response from Myanmar to its proposal to undertake fencing in about 10-km stretch near Moreh in Manipur along the India-Myanmar border, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
