Opposition boycotts Bihar assembly

Patna, Mar 14 (UNI) Boycott of Bihar Assembly proceeding by the Opposition, barring Samjawadi Party, continued for the second day today demanding withdrawal of a censure motion adopted in the House on March 12 as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an impassionate appealy to end the boycott.

The censure motion was passed against some Opposition members who had snapped microphone wires and damaged furniture in House to vent their anger over the state government's failure to nab the culprits responsible for 'blowing-up' RJD MLA Kunti Devi's residence by dynamite.

After the end of the question hour, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar appealed to the Opposition members to participate in the proceedings of the House saying censure motion was passed against certain members whose behaviour was not in accordance with the decorum of the House.

'' Both ruling and opposition parties are part of the parliamentary democracy and there is no question to censure the entire opposition'' he maintained.

Mr Kumar urged Speaker Udai Narain Chaudhary to take initiative to end the crisis and offered the support of the government in his endeavour.

'' Democratic rights of the opposition members would be protected'', he said adding the state government was ready for a thorough debate on any issue in the House.
