One labourer killed as tipper overtuns

Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 14 (UNI) One woman labourer was killed on the spot and three injured, two of them seriously, when a tipper, in which they were travelling overturned a place near the Telugu Ganga canal at Kasaram village in Thodampedu Mandal in Chittoor district about 13 km from here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when the workers of the Telugu Ganga Canal were proceeding to the work spot.

The injured were rushed to a hospital, police said.

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) Members of the Tamil Nadu unit of Dalit Sena staged a demonstration in the city to condemn the continuous attack on Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy personnel in the high seas. Suicide rate among Indians community in Dubai up by 10%

Dubai, Feb 28 (UNI) Suicide rate among the Indian community in Dubai has increased by ten per cent over the last year, the Indian Consulate has reported. The number of deaths registered last year rose to 1,157, compared to 971 in 2005 with 100 victims committing suicide, a spokesman said. Colombo, Feb 28 (UNI) Sri Lankan Navy today attacked and completely sank a suspected arms smuggling vessel of the Tamil Tiger rebels off Dondra Point in the Southern seas, naval sources here claimed.
