NDA to launch agitation against centres policies

Patna, Mar 14 (UNI) National Democratic Alliance (NDA) today announced its constituent parties would launch mass agitation throughout Bihar in protest against UPA government's policies of depriving the people of the state of their dues.

Addressing a press conference jointly, state presidents of BJP Radha Mohan Singh and JD (U), and Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh said that the agitation would begin with ''dharnas'' in district headquarters on April 9 and different agitational programmes would follow till dues for Bihar were realised.

They blamed the erstwhile Rabri Devi government of Bihar for large scale irregularities in the list for the people living Below Poverty Line (BPL).

The NDA leaders said the opposition was trying to create false impression that Nitish government was responsible for the irregularities committed in preparation of the BPL list.

''The house-hold survey for the BPL list was conducted in Bihar on the directive of Centre during the regime of RJD '' they said adding Nitish government was trying to rectify the errors in the list to ensure percolation of the benefits of various welfare schemes to the poor.

''Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had advocated for the preparation of BPL list on the basis of 16 standard points but the Centre was insisting to prepare it on 13 standard point,'' they said.

The BJP leader said if the Centre accepted the request of Mr Kumar on BPL list, more than one crore poor people could be covered under the various welfare programmes sponsored by Centre and state governments.
