Militants kill MURDERER

Imphal, Mar 14 (UNI) Revolutionary People's Front Militants killed a man allegedly involved in the murder of an eight-year-old child.

The boy, Laishram Chinglenkhomba, was found killed with his throat slit at Pishum Chinga Macha, here on Monday last by police.

The RPF said it ''enquired'' into the incident and found that Mayengbam Bungthoi of Khagempalli Panthak, Imphal, was allegedly involved in the killing of the boy.

Police said the body of the man was found last night here.

The house of the alleged killer was also pulled down by angry mob last evening at Khagempalli Panthak.

A rally was also organized yesterday here by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of the boy.

Global population to cross 9 billion by 2050: UN

United Nations, Mar 14 (UNI) The world's human population is on track to surpass 9 billion by 2050, according to the newly released 2006 Revision of the official United Nations population estimates and projections, which also predict the number of elderly persons hitting 1 billion by the same time. Lankan Air Force jets pound LTTE hideouts in East
