Militants kill baby killer

Imphal, Mar 14 (UNI) The Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has killed a man allegedly involved in the killing of an eight-year-old child.

The boy, Laishram Chinglenkhomba, was found killed with his throat slit at Pishum Chinga Macha, here on Monday last by police.

The RPF said it enquired into the incident and found that Mayengbam Bungthoi of Khagempalli Panthak, Imphal, was allegedly involved in snatching gold ear ring from the boy and later killing him.

Police said the body of the man was found last night here.

The house of the alleged killer was also pulled down by angry mob last evening at Khagempalli Panthak.

A rally was also organized yesterday here by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of the boy.

Meanwhile, to protest the abduction of two ten-year-old boys- Mohini Martin and Hrinii Herbert, from Senapati District on Dec 14 last, the Core Committee has stated that it would call Manipur bandh later.

Core Committee Chairman Solomon Veino alleged that the state government has failed to take up action regarding the kidnapping of the two boys though the Chief Minister was informed about the matter. The Committee and the Senapati District Women Association have announced Rs one lakh each as award to those who provide information about the boys, he said.

Six killed in accident

Krishnanagar, Mar 3 (UNI) At least six people were killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between two vehicles on NH-34 at Ghatagachi near Ranaghat police station this morning. Police said the incident occurred when an oil tanker collided with a car, carrying five passengers, who were on their way to Mayapur for celebrating Holi. While three women and two children died on the spot, the driver of the car succumbed to his injuries in the sub-divisional.....

Scribe and cameraman kidnapped in Nandigram

Kolkata, Mar 14 (UNI) A correspondent and a cameraman of a Bengali television channel were allegedly kidnapped by miscreants while covering the Nandigram incidents in East Midnapore district yesterday. Bholanath Bijuli, the correspondent and cameraman Gouranga Hazra of Tara News were still untraced and remained in the alleged captivity of CPI(M) supporters, officials of the channel today said. However, Bijuli managed to contact his office today alleging that both of them had been severely beaten up. The channel officials said though.....

Seven killed in accident

Krishnanagar, Mar 3 (UNI) The toll in the head-on collision between two vehicles on NH-34 at Ghatagachi today rose to seven, with one more person succumbing to his injures in the hospital. Police said the three injured, including a child, were brought to Kolkata for treatment and the child died in the hospital later. The incident occurred this morning here Ranaghat when a milkvan collided with a car, carrying nine persons, on its way to Mayapur for celebrating Holi......
