Mahek Ahuja denied bail, remanded to 14 days judicial custody

Barrackpore, Mar 14 (UNI) The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court today denied bail and remanded Mahek Ahuja to judicial custody for 14 days.

She was produced before the court, as directed by it on March 12.

She was kept in police custody for the last two days.

Airport police registered a case against her under the Suppression of Unlawful Act against Safety of Civil Aviation, adding section 507 of the IPC She was arrested for criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication and for sending an SMS to her father apprehending danger to the Indigo flight that took off from the airport on the night of March 11 without being able to prove, despite thorough search, when the flight made an emergency landing at the airport.

Barrackpore Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Gopal Karmakar today rejected the bail petition filed by her defence lawyer Sudipta Saha and remanded her to judicial custody..

Incidentally, some lawyers argued that her concern regarding the safety of the people on board and her initiative to raise an alarm should be appreciated.
