Local train passenger shot dead; money snatched from possession

Barasat, Mar 14 (UNI) Miscreants shot dead a businessman in a local train compartment near Ashoknagar railway station of Sealdah-Bongaon section of the Eastern Railway this morning.

According to Government Railway Police here, the victim Biswanath Das was going to Habra. Some miscreants stopped the train near Ashoknagar railway station and shot at him.

They allegedly snatched the cash that he was carrying and fled.

Mr Das was admitted to Habra State General Hospital from where he was transferred to Barasat District Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, GRP said.

Police started investigation, but no one was arrested so far, GRP added.
