Illegal use of beacon lights: Case posted to May 2

Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) The Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court today fixed May 2 as the date of hearing of a writ petition filed against the unauthorised use of beacon lights in Uttar Pradesh.

Justices Devi Devi Prasad Singh and J M Paliwal passed this order on a writ petition filed by Sudarsh Awasthi.

The court also summoned two political workers Yamin and Sufi Aqeel on April 26 for allegedly issuing threats to chief judicial magistrate of Jyotiba Phule Nagar, when he had made an on-the-spot inspection in this regard.

Sarpanch killed by naxals

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Mar 14 (UNI) A sarpanch was killed by naxals during a 'Jan Adalat' (people's court) hearing in Bastar district, police said today. Kodnar village sarpanch Mahadev and five other people were arrested five days back. On March 12, naxals organised a 'Jan Adalat' in the forest of Usma. During the meeting, the sarpanch was awarded the death sentence on the suspicion that he was acting as a police informer. He was later stabbed to death. Other villagers.....

HC stays grant of security to 35 persons

Allahabad, Mar 14 (UNI) Allahabad High Court has stayed the grant of security given to 35 persons, who were found eligible for it by a recently constituted high powered committee (HPC). The stay will continue till the court is satisfied the orders passed by the HPC was just, valid and in accordance with rules and guidelines. SPO killed in Chhattisgarh

Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh, Feb 26 (UNI) A special police officer (SPO) has been killed and two injured by a naxal landmine explosion near Bijapur in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district, the police said. A bomb disposal squad was requisitioned following apprehension of a landmine planted near Pamalbaya village on the Bijapur-Gangalur road. After the squad completed its work on the device last evening, it was believed to have been defused.
