HP Cabinet approves amended relief manual

Shimla, Mar 14 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the updated and revised HP Emergency Relief Manual that provides for cash compensation to people due to natural calamities besides enhancing relief under various heads in the state, official sources said today.

The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here yesterday, also decided to provide cash compensation to farmers in the state whose crops have been damaged due to natural calamities.

Sources said the cabinet decided to undertake a comprehensive survey through mapping of existing skilled labour of employable youth and approved the appointment of a consultant for it.

The appointment of a consultant for the preparation of the Master Plan and Project Development for infrastructure in the Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh Industrial Area has also been approved sources said.

The Cabinet has also decided to refer the proposed draft of the Police Act of Himachal Pradesh to the Cabinet Sub Committee for threadbare discussions on it to make it more practical for implementation in the prevailing conditions It approved an amendment in Rule 40-A of the HP Motor Vehicle Act, 1999 and fixed the authorisation/renewal fee.

Under the amendment, an authorised agency would be able to charge a sum of Rs 60 for six months from petrol driven vehicles and Rs 30 for three months from diesel driven vehicles for issuing pollution control certificate.

Dark and chilly nights continues in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) People in the Kashmir valley continued to face dark and chilly nights for the past three days as the Power Development Department (PDD) is yet to repair the damaged transmission lines and electric poles uprooted due to heavy snowfall. However, electric supply to hospitals has been restored late last night, officials said. An official of the Laladed (women) hospital said power was restored at 1300 hrs this afternoon. Hundreds of electric poles were uprooted after the Kashmir.....

Din prevails in Uttarakhand Assembly, House adjourned once

Air traffic to Kashmir resumes after two days

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) Air traffic in Kashmir resumed today after remaining suspended for two days following heavy snowfall. All the flights resumed operation today, Manager, Srinagar, airport told UNI. He said the air traffic was resumed after the snow was cleared from the runway. About a dozen flights are operating between Srinagar-Jammu and Delhi daily. However, due to snowfall and poor visibility all the flights were cancelled on March 12 and yesterday. However, the Srinagar-Jammu national highway is already.....
