Four of family killed in roof collapse

Jalandhar, Mar 14 (UNI) At least four members of a family, including two children, were killed while two others were injured when the roof of their house collapsed at village Lamba Pind near here today.

According to police, Surender Singh, his wife Balwinder Kaur and their children Amanpreet Kaur and Manvir Singh died on the spot when the roof of their house suddenly collapsed on them.

The injured persons identified as Gurpreet Singh and Tejbir Singh were admitted to a nearby hospital.

Sky clear but not roads in J

Jammu, Mar 14 (UNI) Although a sunny day greeted people of Jammu today, many intra-state roads continued to remain blocked due to landslides triggered by heavy rains and snowfall that claimed 17 lives, including five Vaishnodevi pilgrims. The 300-km Jammu-Srinagar national highway (NH A1) was still blocked at Panthayal, about 168 km from here, while there was no transport movement on several other roads connecting small and big towns in the state, official sources told UNI. Five Vaishnodevi pilgrims died.....

Dark and chilly nights continues in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) People in the Kashmir valley continued to face dark and chilly nights for the past three days as the Power Development Department (PDD) is yet to repair the damaged transmission lines and electric poles uprooted due to heavy snowfall. However, electric supply to hospitals has been restored late last night, officials said. An official of the Laladed (women) hospital said power was restored at 1300 hrs this afternoon. Hundreds of electric poles were uprooted after the Kashmir.....

Din prevails in Uttarakhand Assembly, House adjourned once

Dehradun, Mar 14 (UNI) Uttarakhand Assembly was adjourned for 30 minutes on the second day of the first session of newly elected State Assembly here today. Chief Minister B C Khanduri proved his majority in the house amid the noise. As soon as speaker Harbans Kapoor entered the House a total din prevailed when leader of the main opposition Congress party Harak Singh stood on his feet and started demanding a discussion on the incident of the circulation of obscene MMS.....
