Four killed in police firing in Nandigram

Nandigram, Mar 14(UNI) At least four people were killed when police opened fire to disperse armed villagers who resisted a huge force from entering the embattled Nandigram area in East Midnapore district this morning.

The Police resorted to firing after lathi charge and bursting of teargas shells yielded no result and the villagers turned hostile.

According to reports, two persons, who received bullet injuries, died in Nandigram Hospital while two bodies were found in Sonachura.

The police fired at least fifty rounds to disperse the villagers.

Contai Trinamool MLA Shubendhu Adhikari claimed that 15 people were injured in the police firing.

Additional police forces have been rushed to the spot to control the situation.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee condemned the police firing and demanded President's rule in West Bengal.

DuPont to invest Rs 100cr pa in Hyderabad knowledge centre

Punjab govt, Leyland join hands for driving school

Chandigarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Punjab government and Ashok Leyland will join hands to set-up a training school for drivers in the border state. The school will be located on a 22-acre plot in Kapurthala district. Leyland which has a similar school in Tamil nadu has approved the site. Revealing this here today, Transport Minister Mohan Lal said that an MoU between the state government and Leyland will be signed after the Cabinet accords its approval for the school. ITC to pump in Rs 150cr for foray into snacks business

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) ITC Ltd's Food Division today expanded its product portfolio with the launch of 'Bingo' snacks and said it will pump in Rs 150 crore over the next two years.
