Fire destroys huts

Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Mar 14 (UNI) Fire destroyed 23 houses, mostly thatched dwellings, in Saradha Colony inhabitated by weaker sections, in the city today.

A spark from a kitchen oven started the fire. Fire engines rushed to the spot and doused the flames. The inhabitants, all daily wagers, were away at work at the time of the mishap.

Maximum temperatures changed little over state.

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI) The maximum temperatures changed little and were normal all over the state. The minimum temperatures fell at a few places over Telangana, at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Rayalaseema, according to weather office here today. The temperatures were below normal at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and normal over Rayalaseema. Govt holds high level discussions with APSRTC unions

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI)The Andhra Pradesh Government today held an high level meeting with the union leaders of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) on threat of the employees' proposed strike on the issue of the private transport operations in the state. UN envoy to Nepal questions June polls sans consensus

United Nations, Feb 27 (UNI) The UN envoy to Nepal has warned that the scheduled elections in June may have to be postponed unless some form of consensus is reached "very soon" on the electoral arrangements in the Himalayan country.
