Fake video CDs seized, 5 held

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) Police seized 5,470 fake video game CDs worth Rs 25 lakh in an surprise raids conducted in five different gaming parlours and shops at Chintadripet and Egmore areas of the city yesterday and arrested five persons in this connection.

Police said, acting on a specific complaint on largescale sale of fake CDs of popular brands, the raids were conducted and seizure effected.

The arrested were identified as L Johnpaul, S Sampath, K Mohamed Gani, M Murali and M Deepak. All of them were remanded in judicial custody.

Raghavji trumpets achievements in Assy

Suspended police official allegedly manhandled

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) A personal staff of Chief Minister today allegedly attempted to manhandle a senior police official, now under suspension, waiting to meet the Chief Minister to request him to revoke his suspension. Official sources said the suspended Police official Muthukaruppan, who got an official appointment to meet Mr Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence, was waiting for his turn to meet the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, a personal staff, who saw the official, got agitated and shouted slogans against him.....

Spanish scientist missing case: Eight people taken into custody

Mangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) Eight people were today taken into custody in connection with the suspected death of a Spanish scientist, reported missing since last few months in Belthangady taluk in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. Police said the scientist, Francisco Albert Belil, who had come to Kadirudyavar forest area in Belthangady in June last year for a study on forests, went missing since last few months. His family members in Spain had alerted the Indian Government through the Spanish.....
