Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has taken over from the Border Security Force (BSF) in north and south Kashmir, a CRPF spokesman today said.

The process has already been started and by tomorrow the CRPF will completely replace the BSF, the spokesman told UNI.

The CRPF took over counter-insurgency operations from the BSF last year.

The CRPF, who took over from the BSF, was given a month-long pre-induction training during which they were delivered lectures on Human Rights.

He said ten more battalions of the CRPF would take the charge of Kupwara and Baramulla districts in the north Kashmir and Pulwama and Anantnag districts in the south Kashmir. Six battalions would be deployed in the north Kashmir while four in the south Kashmir.

With this, a total of 59 battalions would be deployed in the valley, which is one-third of the total strength of the CRPF, he said.

He said immediately after their arrival here in January, the CRPF personnel were given in-house pre-induction training at different places.

They were briefed about the topography of the area they are being deployed, security in Kashmir, the languages of the local people and climate, the spokesman said.
