Citizenship of Subba to be decided by court not Parliament:Dasmunsi

New Delhi, Mar 14 (UNI) A meeting convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee with leaders of various political parties today unanimously decided to leave the issue of the citizenship of Lok Sabha member Moni Kumar Subba to the court.

Disclosing this at a press conference, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said there was a consensus among the leaders that either the Election Commission or the Court should resolve the membership issue of Mr Subba.

The court was already seized of the matter and Parliament should not encroach upon the court's power, he said.

Four of family killed in roof collapse

Jalandhar, Mar 14 (UNI) At least four members of a family, including two children, were killed while two others were injured when the roof of their house collapsed at village Lamba Pind near here today. According to police, Surender Singh, his wife Balwinder Kaur and their children Amanpreet Kaur and Manvir Singh died on the spot when the roof of their house suddenly collapsed on them. The injured persons identified as Gurpreet Singh and Tejbir Singh were admitted to a nearby.....

HP Cabinet approves amended relief manual

Shimla, Mar 14 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has approved the updated and revised HP Emergency Relief Manual that provides for cash compensation to people due to natural calamities besides enhancing relief under various heads in the state, official sources said today. The Cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh here yesterday, also decided to provide cash compensation to farmers in the state whose crops have been damaged due to natural calamities. Kashmir remains cut off for 4th day due to snow-landslides

Srinagar, Mar 14 (UNI) The 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway, life line to Kashmir, remained closed for the fourth day today resulting in acute shortage of essential commodities in the valley. The weather has improved and the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has pressed into service hundreds of labourers and machines to clear the landslides and snow on the highway, a traffic police official told UNI here. He said one-way traffic would be restored in the afternoon if there are no more landslides.....
