BHEL employees observe one day fast

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 14 (UNI) Over 80 employees of the Public Sector Undertaking Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) Tiruchirapalli, affiliated to the Boiler Plant Dr Ambedkar Employees Union, were observing a one-day's token fast in front of the BHEL main gate here, demanding implementation of six point charter of demands.

The employees, led by the Union President Sakthivel, pressed for priority for wards of the BHEL employees while recruiting new employees particularly hailing from Tamil Nadu, new wage revision, 60 per cent interim relief among various other demands.

Tigers blame Lanka for risking lives of foreign envoys

Colombo, Feb 27 (UNI) The Tamil Tiger rebels today blamed the government of Sri Lanka for risking the lives of foreign envoys. They expressed "deep regret for the injuries caused to the foreign diplomats" due to their long-range mortar and artillery shelling. "We are shocked by the grave negligence in the security arrangements for the diplomats by the Sri Lankan government that has transported the delegation into the artillery launch-pads amid the prevailing atmosphere of provocative artillery attacks," the Tamilnet website.....

Maximum temperatures changed little over state.

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI) The maximum temperatures changed little and were normal all over the state. The minimum temperatures fell at a few places over Telangana, at one or two places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and changed little over Rayalaseema, according to weather office here today. The temperatures were below normal at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and normal over Rayalaseema. The lowest minimum temperature of 18 degrees Celsius was recorded at Hakimpet and Rentachintala. UNI.....

Govt holds high level discussions with APSRTC unions

Hyderabad, Mar 14 (UNI)The Andhra Pradesh Government today held an high level meeting with the union leaders of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) on threat of the employees' proposed strike on the issue of the private transport operations in the state. Working President of the National Mazdoor Union M Nageswsara Rao and General Secretary Syed Mahamood after their meeting with Transport Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana and Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishan said the government had decided to take action.....
