Apollo opens healthcare centre in city

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) After successfully establishing network of clinics in all major cities and towns across the country, the Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Enterprises Ltd, in association with Chavan Healthcare Pvt Ltd today launched a specialised day-to-day healthcare centre here.

The clinic was inaugurated by GENPACT Senior Vice President S K Raja in presence of Apollo Hospitals Group Executive Chairman Dr Prathap C Reddy and Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited CEO Ratan Jalan, a release said.

The release quoted Dr Prathap Reddy as saying, "a vast country like India needed a strong primary healthcare infrastructure and the Apollo Clinics are taking a revolutionary step in this direction." UNI

Hospital to start working in 2007: Valsaraj

Puducherry, Mar 14 (UNI) The Rs 36-crore women and children hospital here would be inaugurated this year, Health Minister E Valsaraj said today. In an informal chat with newsmen after visiting the construction site along with MLA R Viswanathan, Health Secretary Balakrishnan and other officials, Mr Valsaraj said the construction work was at final stages and would be completed in another six months following which the hospital would start functioning. Female condom programme launched in TN

Chennai, Mar 14 (UNI) A female condom programme, aimed at reducing women's vulnerability to HIV/AIDS, was launched in Tamil Nadu today. The pilot programme, launched by a partnership between Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS) and Hindustan Latex Family Planning Promotional Trust would reach out to 3,000 women from vulnerable population in the state. The programme had been initiated as part of the National AIDS Control Organisation's efforts to provide female condoms to vulnerable populations in different states including Tamil.....

Oppn stalls AP House in support of farmers

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (UNI) Members of the Telugu Desam Party and other Opposition parties today stalled the proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for some time, demanding remunerative prices for the produce of farmers in the state. Trouble began soon after Speaker K R Suresh Reddy disallowed the adjournment motion notices by the TDP, TRS and CPI(M) with the members pressing for an immediate discussion on the issue, setting aside the agenda set for the day.
