Amended relief manual to provide cash relief to HP farmers:Mahajan

Shimla, Mar 14 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue Minister Sat Mahajan today said the state government has amended the HP Emergency Relief Manual for providing cash relief to people who suffer losses due to natural calamities in the state.

Making a suo moto statement in the Assembly immediately after Question Hour, he said the decision to provide cash relief and enhance relief under various heads after amending the manual was taken at a Cabinet meeting yesterday.

Mr Mahajan said the manual provides for enhancing ex-gratia to Rs 75,000 uniformly as against Rs 50,000 for earning member and Rs 25,000 for non-earning member in case of death due to natural calamity in the existing manual.

The government has also enhanced the relief to Rs 25,000 from Rs 15,000 in case of a loss of a limb or permanent disability above 40 per cent, he said.

He said the government has also decided to provide a compensation of Rs 15,000 in case of grievous injury and Rs 2,000 to 5,000 in case of minor injury.

Besides the government has made a provision for providing relief to people who have been rendered homeless at the rate of prevailing daily wage per person of Rs 75, he said, adding that in addition, each family would be provided a sum of Rs 5,000 per family for clothing and utensils.

''Livlihood Mission'' to create 50,000 jobs this year

Dehra Dun, Mar 14 (UNI) B C Khanduri-led BJP government today proved its majority in the Uttarakhand Assembly, securing 39 votes in the 70-member House, amid a walkout by the Opposition Congress.
