15 candidates left in fray for Rajnandgaon bypoll

Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, Mar 14 (UNI) Fifteen candidates were left in the fray for Rajnandgaon assembly constituency in Chhattisgarh where byelections are scheduled to take place on March 29.

''Three candidates -- Brijmohan Joshi, Bhagvat Prasad Sonkar and Rakesh Srivastava -- withdrew their names on the last day of withdrawing names today,'' District Election Officer R S Vishwakarma told UNI.

The key contestants include Mr Devrat Singh (Cong), Mr Leelaram Bhojwani (BJP) and Mr Balkrishna Agrawal (BSP).

The Rajnandgaon seat fell empty as BJP MP Pradeep Gandhi was disqualified after being caught on camera in the cash-for-questions scandal.

Big Brother racial case dropped

London, Mar 10 (UNI) The case of alleged racism on the celebrity Big Brother show involving Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty has been dropped. Pakistan will ascertain root cause of Samjhauta blast:Aziz

Lahore, Mar 10 (UNI) Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz today said his government would try to ascertain the root cause behind the Samjhauta Express train blasts which killed 68 passengers, mostly Pakistanis, last month. The Prime Minister was speaking at a ceremony in which he gave away 15 cheques worth 5.5 million Pak rupees to the kin of passengers who died or sustained injuries from the blast. Communal harmony will be maintained: Chouhan

Bhopal, Mar 14 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today expressed his resolve to maintain communal harmony in the state and promised to take strict action against those trying to disrupt it.
