11 kids take ill after consuming mid-day meal

Akola, Mar 13 (UNI) 11 kids have taken ill due to food poisoning after consuming 'khichadi' at Hatna village in Manora tehsil in the adjoining Washim district.

Children of age group 2-3 years, began vomiting after consuming the 'khichadi' yesterday, which was being provided by the government under the 'mid-day meal' programme to them.

They were rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) of the village, which referred them to the General Hospital here.

Four of the 11 kids are reportedly serious, hospital sources said.

A 'Bachat gat (saving group) has been given the contract to prepare the diet.

Police investigations have began to ascertain the cause of the incident.

Kawade's resignation accepted

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The resignation of People's Republican party of India MLC Prof Jogendra Kawade was accepted today. He had announced his resignation on the floor of the house in Nagpur, protesting against murder of four members of dalit family at Khairlanji. Thirty-four locals converted into 12-coaches from Nine

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Western Railway (WR) authorities today upgraded thirtyfour 9-coach local trains into 12-car ones, increasing number of 12-coach services from 474 to 511. The WR spokesperson Bhagwat Dahisarkar said here today that 34 local trains were converted into 12-coach trains from Nine-cars. Among these, 30 locals will be terminated or originated from Borivali station and four originating from Andheri railway station. Eight of these 12-coach trains will run during peak hours (0830 hours to 1130 hours.....
