10-year-old heart patient dies in front of SP office

Lucknow, Mar 14 (UNI) In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old heart patient died in front of the ruling Samajwadi Party office here in the absence of timely medical care.

Neeraj had a damaged heart valve and his family was not in a condition to afford his treatment.

Neeraj's father Tarachand of Jhusi in Allahabad district, alleged he came here to obtain necessary financial help from the ruling Samajwadi Party, but was instead manhandled by the party functionaries.

''After waiting for more than three hours, his son died at 1100 hrs in front of the party office,'' he said.

Meanwhile, Mrs Geeta Choudhury, who accompanied Tarachand, said Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) had demanded Rs 1.80 lakh for his treatment.

''But, as the family was in punery, they wanted some financial help from the ruling party or the Chief Minister,'' she added.

She said the family also carried a letter written by SP MLA from Jhusi, Bijma Yadav to the party leaders to provide them the money for the boy's treatment.

333 Keralites have Pak citizenship

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 14 (UNI) Kerala Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan today informed the Assembly that 333 Keralites, who had Pakistani citizenship were residing in the state. In a written reply, he said Malayalees with Bangladesh citizenship were also residing in the state. Mr Balakrishnan said the government had also noticed that Bangladesh citizens were migrating illegally to Kearla.
