Speaker asks police to maintain tight security during budget session

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Singh today asked the city police to maintain tight security during the forthcoming budget session of the house.

In a meeting with senior officials of different departments to review preparations for the session, Mr Singh told Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) to ensure that working of the Assembly or its members was not obstructed at any cost.

He directed the DCP to ensure that no public meetings or assembly of more than five people were held in or around the Legislative Assembly complex.

He also issued appropriate instructions to all other departments concerned to ensure that the session went on smoothly.

Due to the municipal elections on April 5, Vote On Account would take place on March 21 while the rest of the budget session would be held from 11 to 23 April.

Metro services on Indraprastha-Barakhamba disrupted for two hours

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Metro operations on the Indraprastha -Barakhamba stretch on line 3 of the DMRC were briefly disrupted this morning. New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) Indian financial institutions are the latest to board the 'train to Pakistan', with the Punjab National Bank throwing the gauntlet for opening a branch or two in the neighbouring country. PNB Chairman and Managing Director S C Gupta today announced that the bank has filed an application with the Indian regulator (RBI) for setting up a branch in Pakistan, which could be in Lahore or Karachi or both.
