Rally to protest boy's killing

Imphal, March 13 (UNI) A rally was taken out here today to protest the killing of an eight-year-old boy yesterday.

The eight-year-old boy was identified as Chinglenkhomba. He was found murdered last evening at Pishum Chinga Macha.

Police said no one was arrested so far. A gold ring, worn by the boy, was missing and he bore wound marks on his neck the police said.

MLA L Jayenta and others have strongly condemned the killing and termed it barbaric.

Punjab govt includes landless families in health care scheme

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) The scope of the Sanjivni Health Care Scheme, has been enlarged by the Punjab government to include landless families from the next financial year. This scheme which was launched last year was limited to provide health insurance cover to members of the cooperative societies and so far it had benefited over 18,500 patients with a pay out of over Rs 35 crore last year. New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Government has decided to launch a new National Programme for Tobacco Control and set up a National Regulatory Authority to curb the growing menace which kills millions of people every year due to cancer, heart attacks and cause widespread damage to the economy. Four NSCN-IM cadres arrested in Mizoram

Aizawl, Mar 13 (UNI) Mizoram police today said they have arrested four NSCN-IM cadres, at Sinhui village, about 20 km from here, yesterday. Police sources said the cadres had been sent to Mamit district police headquarters for interrogation, adding that they had abducted four youths from West Phaileng village in West Mizoram last week. Ailing HC chairman Geelani applies for US visa

Sriangar, Mar 13 (UNI) Ailing Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC), has formally applied visa for United States.
