Rainfall at isolated places

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office at 0830 hours today.

Rainfall occurred at isolated places over South Interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Napoklu recorded one cms rainfall.

Maximum temperatures changed little over the State. They were appreciably above normal at a few places over Coastal Karnataka and remained normal over Interior Karnataka.

Bellary recorded the highest maximum temperature of 37.7 degree celsius over the State.

Minimum temperatures changed little and were normal over the State.

Belgaum AP recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 16.6 degree celsius over the State.

Forecast valid until Thursday morning: Dry weather may prevail over the State.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Dry weather may prevail over all the districts of the State.

Local forecast: Clear sky. Maximum and Minimum temperature would be around 33 degree celsius and 19 degree celsius respectively.

Dacoits strike at 5 villages in Dharwad

Dharwad, Karnataka, Mar 14 (UNI) An armed dacoits gang went on a looting spree at five villages in Dharwad taluk in this district of Karnataka, assaulting six people and relieving them of their cash and gold ornaments, from last night till early today. Police said the dacoits, numbering eight and armed with axes and lathis, first struck at a field in Kotdagi village and assualted one Fakirappa and his wife, who were harvesting there, before looting their cash and gold.....

Cong workers organise rally

Machilipatnam, March 16 (UNI) Congress volunteers organised a rally in Machilipatnam Port town this evening protesting what they called the "double standard" of Telugu Desam Party supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on the re-opening of Machilipatnam Port. The agitators burnt an effigy of the former Chief Minister. Muncipal Chairman Shaik Silar Dada, Machilipatnam Urban Bank President B Vittal and District Congress Committee General secretary M Venkateswara Rao participated in the rally. UNI.....

National Conference of NGOs in Bangalore on Apr 28, 29

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) A two-day maiden national conference of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), organised by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), will be held in the city from April 28, NHRC Chairman Dr Justice Shivraj V Patil said today. Talking to newspersons here, he said that in all, 100 NGOs and human rights experts would participate in the conference. Dr Justice Patil said the main theme of the conference would be 'Right to Education and Right to Health'. The conference would.....
