NIIT ties-up with Sun Microsystems to offer training in OSC

Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) Software education major, NIIT Ltd has today informed the BSE that they and Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd have expanded their relationship to offer training in the growing open source computing (OSC), through Sun Solaris training programs.

As part of the alliance, the Company will offer specialized training programs through its network of education centers as well as specialized Solaris lab to be set up in metros to several thousand students and software professionals in the country, NIIT added.

ICICI Bank signs Line of Credit with Export Development Canada

Mumbai, Mar 13 (UNI) ICICI Bank and Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's Export Credit Agency, today signed a Line of Credit (LoC) agreement. The LoC is currently for an amount of USD 50 million and depending on requirement, may be increased. This LoC is to be utilised to support Indian corporates importing capital goods and availing services from Canada. The LoC is the first of its kind to be extended by EDC to any Indian bank, a bank's release issued here.....

Gujarat for Rs 100,000 cr outlay in 11th Plan

Gandhinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) Gujarat has decided to double the financial outlay for the eleventh Five Year Plan (year 2007-12) with special focus on the agricultural, services and education sectors. ''We have submitted a proposal to the National Planning Commission to spend Rs 100,000 crore in the Eleventh Plan, as against the Rs 47,000 crore outlay in the Tenth Plan period,'' Gujarat Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala told UNI. Hundreds of birds that suffered wounds in Kite-flying saved

Surat, Mar 13 (UNI) Hundreds of birds that suffered deep wounds caused by the sharp strings of kites during the last Uttrayan festival were saved by Prayas, an environmental group here. The volunteers of the group set free 16 pigeons on Sunday, which would have faced a slow and cruel death had the group not intervened effectively. According to Darshan Desai of the Prayas, till now around 300 birds, including pigeons, vultures, crows and kites, had been saved by the organisation.....
