M&M to foray into passenger vehicle segment

Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) After the Sports Utility Vehicle segment, auto major Mahindra&Mahindra (M&M) is planning to launch low-priced passenger vehicles.

''The plan is to produce passenger cars in joint venture with a foreign company keeping in mind the purchasing power of consumers and their technological requirement,'' Senior General Manager (Sales) Bhartendu Kapoor told UNI here.

Mr Kapoor, who was here for the launch of a new variant of Bolero, said that the model had been made more attractive and comfortable. The Bolero possessed a special suspension and had better mileage.

Vijayawada, Feb 28 (UNI) Indian Council of Medical Research Director-General Prof N K Ganguly today said the country accounted for more than 20 per cent maternal and infant deaths. Canecharge on dalit wedding procession

Chhatarpur, MP, Mar 13 (UNI) Three police personnel, including a town inspector (TI), were suspended after a canecharge here on a dalit wedding procession where a high-decibel band was being played. About a dozen people, including the groom, women and children, were injured in last night's incident. Incensed processionists allegedly assaulted Superintendent of Police Chanchal Shekhar, Town Inspector Arun Dubey and other personnel. Burnt counsellor dead

Jabalpur, Mar 13 (UNI) A counsellor who was doused with kerosene and set ablaze on March 6 at the local Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital, by a patient who was refused medicine, has died during treatment in Delhi, hospital sources said. Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, who suspected himself to be an AIDS sufferer, was at the hospital for consultation and targeted Sanjay Shrivastav before fleeing. Geelani dismisses reports of his ill health
