LS adjourned for third time over Left protest against Bill

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The issue of introduction of the Indian Maritime University Bill, 2007, rocked the Lok Sabha today, leading to a third adjournment of the House for an hour till 1400 hrs.

As the House re-assembled at 1300 hrs, after the second adjournment over the issue, members from the Left parties resumed their noisy protests, leading the Chair to adjourn the House for an hour till 1400 hrs.

Earlier, the House had witnessed two adjournments as a scuffle broke out between members of the Left parties and the DMK and other parties from Tamil Nadu over the introduction of the Bill which proposes to set up a maritime research and studies centre of the national level in Tamil Nadu instead of Kolkata.

The first adjournment was for ten minutes while the second adjournment was for 45 minutes.

LTTE had fired on Tamil Nadu fishermen in Indian waters

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) Sri Lankan Government has informed New Delhi that LTTE insurgents and not the Sri Lankan navy had fired on Tamil Nadu fishermen in the territorial waters of India, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
