Jabalpur counsellor dies in Safdarjung hospital

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) A Madhya Pradesh counsellor, who was set ablaze on March 6 in a local hospital in Jabalpur by a patient, died here last night, doctors said.

Sanjay Shrivastava, who had sustained 80 per cent burns, died in Safdarjung Hospital here 2130 hrs yesterday.

A report from Jabalpur said Shrivastava was doused with kerosene and then set ablaze by Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, who was a suspected AIDS patient, in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital .

Jaiswal was reportedly agitated as he was denied medicines in the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital.

The accused was arrested within hours near the hospital.

1 killed, 2 hurt as motorcycle hits car

Tirupati, Feb 25 (UNI) One person was killed and two seriously injured when the motorcycle on which they were travelling hit a car between Ramapuram and Nagari on the Chennai-Tirupati Highway in Chittoor District, about 45 kms from here this morning. Police sources said the mishap occurred when the trio, travelling to Nagari on the motorcycle, hit the car proceeding to Tirumala from Chennai. The deceased was identified as Murali Mohan(27). Two others -- Lakshminarayana (27) and Dhandapani (27)-- were admitted.....

Canecharge on dalit wedding procession, 3 police officers suspended

Chhatarpur, MP, Mar 13 (UNI) Three police personnel, including a town inspector (TI), were suspended after a canecharge here on a dalit wedding procession where a loud band was being played. About twelve people, including the groom, women and children, were injured in last night's incident. Incensed processionists allegedly assaulted Superintendent of Police Chanchal Shekhar, Town Inspector Arun Dubey and other police personnel. The processionists alleged the duo of raining canes on them. The groom -- Prasad Basor's son Sohan Lal.....

Water meters: CPI (ML) asked to help in struggle

Vijayawada, Feb 25 (UNI) The 'Neeti Meetarla Vyathireka Aikya Porata Committee,' a forum spearheading the agitation against installation of water meters for domestic tap connections in the city, decided to seek the assistance of CPI (ML) in the struggle, VMC CPI Floor Leader P Gowtham Reddy said today.
