IT collection up 30 per cent in Pune circle: IT Chief Commissioner

Pune, Mar 13 (UNI) Income Tax (IT) Chief Commissioner Santosh Dutta today said collections were up by 30 per cent in Corporate Tax and 35 per cent in Income Tax, totalling an average of 33 per cent.

He said the Pune Centre had achieved its target for the first time and total of 21,99,868 returns were filed by Feburary 28.

Concealed income and seizures during this period amounted to recovery of Rs 265.86 crore Till date, the department had collected a target amount of Rs 6,516 crore and it is expected to achieve a target of Rs 8,756 crore by the month-end, he added.

Kawade's resignation accepted

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The resignation of People's Republican party of India MLC Prof Jogendra Kawade was accepted today. He had announced his resignation on the floor of the house in Nagpur, protesting against murder of four members of dalit family at Khairlanji. An announcement to this effect was made by deputy chairman Vasant Davkhare. Prof Kawade was nominated as MLC in January 2002 from NCP quota and had nearly a year left for completion of his term. Panaji, Mar 14( UNI) Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today launched a new scheme ''Lege Raho BSNL ke Saath'', to talk free within Goa and local mobile with BSNL network with addtional rental of Rs 99 per month. The scheme will be effective from March 16. Interacting with mediapersons here today, BSNL Goa, General Manager Mr A K Desrkar said this will help expansion of subscriber base. Thirty-four locals converted into 12-coaches from Nine

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The Western Railway (WR) authorities today upgraded thirtyfour 9-coach local trains into 12-car ones, increasing number of 12-coach services from 474 to 511. The WR spokesperson Bhagwat Dahisarkar said here today that 34 local trains were converted into 12-coach trains from Nine-cars. Among these, 30 locals will be terminated or originated from Borivali station and four originating from Andheri railway station. Eight of these 12-coach trains will run during peak hours (0830 hours to 1130 hours.....

Four IAS officers transferred in Gujarat
