Inquiry ordered against Panchayat Sevak

Patna, Mar 13 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered a thorough inquiry into the alleged irregularities committed by Gram Panchayat Sevak of Rajchaura Rajpur panchayat in Lakhisarai district.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Kumar said order for the probe had been issued following receipt of complaints against the Panchayat Sevak, Ravindra Yadav.

The state Chief Secretary and the DGP had been asked to ensure fair inquiry into the allegation.

Earlier, Mukhiya of Rajchaura Rajpur Panchayat Phagu Koda had called on the Chief Minister and apprised him of the alleged irregularities committed by the Panchayat Sevak in recruitment of teachers besides other welfare schemes.

Govt must issue final notification on soft drinks standards: CSE

New Delhi, Mar 15 (UNI) The Centre for Science and Environment today said government must notify the total amount of pesticides allowed in soft drinks. ''Otherwise, it will negate the effort to regulate soft drinks and make it completely useless,'' a CSE statement said. While welcoming the report of a government expert committee which recommended a standard to regulate soft drinks, CSE urged the need to mandate the standards so that safety was not compromised.
