HC notices to Haryana Govt, police chief on PIL against IG

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notices to the Haryana government, its state police chief and superintendent of police, state vigilance bureau, Gurgaon for July 10 on a PIL seeking high-level probe into the allegations against Sharad Kumar, Inspector General Police, Rohtak range.

In the PIL, which came up for hearing before the division bench of the Chief Justice Vijender Jain and Justice Rajive Bhalla, the petitioner, Sonipat resident Vimal Kumar, has said that according to an FIR, two assistant sub inspectors (ASIs) of Haryana police had attempted a deal with Inspector Issan Singh to get three-year extension in service from IG Sharad Kumar against some hefty amount.

The conversation about this had been recorded on the mobile, but in the charge sheet presented to the court, the names of the two ASIs was there but the IG had been left out, the PIL said.

Another instance of alleged corruption related to reinstatement of a police official Joginder Singh, ordered by the IG despite a court sentencing him to three and a half years imprisonment plus a fine of Rs 5000 in a case of alleged corruption.

The reinstatement was ordered without waiting for the outcome of Singh's appeal in the court, it was submitted.

Robbers decamp with valuables

Centre to process afresh TN Govt proposal on Tamil in HC: Minister

Chennai, Mar 12 (UNI) The Union Law Ministry will process afresh the Tamil Nadu Government's proposal for introduction of Tamil as official language in Madras High Court and obtain the President's consent ''as expeditiously as possible.'' In a letter to Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, a copy of which circulated to the media here, Union Law Minister H R Bhardwaj said, ''I have carefully gone through your letter and asked my department to process the matter afresh keeping in view the points.....
