HC notice to Panchayati Raj Minister

Jaipur, Mar 13 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court has issued show cause notice to Panchayati Raj Minister Kalulal Gujjar for calling off a meeting of the panchayat samiti to vote on a no confidence motion against a sarpanch.

The single bench of Justice Ashok Parihar of the court issued notice yesterday on a petition moved against the minister by members of the Weir Panchayat Samiti in Bharatpur distrcit.

The CEO of Zilla Parishad had convened a meeting of the panchayat samiti to vote on a no confidence motion against Sarpanch Sampati Devi on February 28. But the minister intervened and orderd the cancellation of the meeting which the petitioners complained as 'illegal'. The petitioners pleaded for passing 'stricture' against the erring minister.

The petitioners Siya Ram and others pointed out that the minister's action was in violation of Section 37 of the Rajasthan Panchayati Raj Act.

Birbhum: Three of a family die in road mishap

Birbhum, Mar 17: At least three members of a family were mowed down by a speeding bus at Siuri under Purandarpur police station today. Police said while one Muzzammal Sheik (42) was crossing the road with his daughters Yasmin Khatun(18) and Salema Khatun(18), the bus knocked them down. All of them died on the spot.Both Yasmin and Salema were standard eleven student. Kerala endorses ADB agreement

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 2 (UNI) The Kerala government today endorsed the ADB agreement that was signed in New Delhi between it and ADB officials. A special Cabinet meeting gave its approval to the agreement. The agreement, signed on December 8, 2007 had to be officially ratified before March eight. Jodhpur, March 13 (UNI) A lower court here today admitted a complaint against Liz Hurley and Arun Nayar for allegedly making a mockery of Hindu rituals during their much-publicised Indian style wedding on March 9.
