HC directs TDB to remove hoardings from temple compounds

Kochi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Kerala High Court today directed the Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) to remove the hoardings located inside the temple compounds.

A division bench comprising acting Chief Justice K S Radhakrishnan and Justice M N Krishnan observed that exhibits of advertisements inside the temple compounds were violating the sentiments of the devotees and their beliefs.

The bench issued this direction while considering a writ petition filed by M G Rajesh Kumar from Thiruvalla.

The petitioner had sought a direction against the TDB not to permit fixing of hoardings and flex boards with commercial advertisements inside the compound walls and premises of temples.

Hallmarking of gold jewellery compulsory from Jan 1, 2008

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Hallmarking for all gold jewellery items will become compulsory from January 1, 2008, the Rajya Sabha was informed today. Sentencing of blasts convicts to begin from April 19

Mumbai, Mar 14 (UNI) The special TADA court today said it would start announcing sentences on 100 accused found guilty in '93 blasts from April 19. Designated Judge Pramod Kode said he would dispose of all pending applications in the case on April 16-17 before pronouncing sentence in batches from April 19.
