Four members of a family, including former actor arrested

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Four members of a family, including a former supporting actress of Bollywood, were arrested and stolen articles worth over Rs 13 Lakhs were recovered from them, Commissioner of Police Neelam Achutharao said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said Kamalesh, Priyanka, Suraj and Bollywood supporting actress Kavitha, posing as customers, had robbed gold and silver ornaments from shops in the city by replacing them with duplicate after diverting the attention of shopkeepers.

They had robbed clothes and electronic goods too.

The arrested had confessed to having committed the crime in the busy areas of the City. They were involved in more than 16 such cases, he added.

TN Minister lays foundation stone for desalination plant

Chennai, Feb 25 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister M K Stalin today laid the foundation stone for the Rs 510 crore-desalination plant with a capacity of 100 MLD, the largest in the country, at Minjur near here. Central Excise evasion detected

Hyderabad, Mar 13 (UNI) The Hyderabad Regional unit of the Directorate General of Central Excise Intelligence detected a case of massive evasion of Central Excise and misuse of Cenvat Credit Scheme by some aluminum extrusion manufacturers. Court rejects Kannada Prasad's bail application

Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu, Mar 13 (UNI) A local Court today rejected the bail application of Kannada Prasad, involved in a sex racket. When the bail application came up for hearing before the Chengallpettu Sessions Judge Mohandas, government prosecutor submitted that Prasad should not be granted bail as he would tamper with the evidence.
