Four arrested for Sunday's robbery-cum-murder of Jeweller

New Delhi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Delhi Police have arrested four members of an inter-state gang of robbers for their involvement in the murder of a jeweller in East Delhi on Sunday.

The mastermind of the gang Mohd Kasim, along with his associates Sajid, Abdul Rehman and Sharafat, were arrested late last night after a brief encounter from near Kashmere Gate while they were leaving Delhi for Kairana.

Two .30 bore pistols and one country-made pistol of 315 bore were recovered from the robbers.

Also recovered were Rs 20 lakh which the four had looted from Jeweller Vinay Jain at Hari Nagar Ashram before shooting him dead.

Investigation revealed that the gang has been involved in several armed robberies in Ludhiana, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh in the last ten years.

100 bio-villages to be set up in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 2 (UNI) As many as 100 bio-villages will be established in Kerala with emphasis on organic farming during 2007-08, which will be declared as 'Harithavarsham,' the year of agriculture and farmers. This was disclosed by Governor R L Bhatia while addressing the Kerala Assembly on the opening day of the Budget Session.
