Eleven arrested in connection with Feb 15 shootout in the City

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved a shoot out in the city on February 15 in which two people were killed with the arrest of eleven people and is seeking interpol's assitance to nab the main accused.

City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutharao told newsmen here today that six teams of City Crime Branch (CCB) and local police formed specially to nab the culprits have succeded in nabbing the accused in shootout in the office of Shabnam Developers in which a lady Receiptionist and driver of the propritor Shamiulla were shot dead in close range.

However, the main accused was still at large and had reportedly gone underground or abroad, he said adding efforts were on to nab him by approaching Interpol.

Mr Achutharao said that 9 mm Pistol, 8 mm Hand Gun, 9 rounds of live cartridges, Motorcycle used in the crime and cell phones were recovered from the arrested.

He said that the investigation has revealed that a criminal consipiracy was hatched by Ravi Poojari with one Kaviraj to kill Mr Shamiulla to establish his footprints in the real estate business in Bangalore, specially by taking over disputed lands and to carry out extoration business.

During investigation one Yogesh of Udupi, a contact of Ravi Poojari was picked up and this led to arrest of Kisore of Coondapur whose interrogation revealed the existence of two teams in Bangalore comprising of Suresh Poojari and Mohan. On their information Ibrahim, Mahesh, sibu of one team and Santhosh, Mohan, Uday, Kaviraj, Anand, vijay of another team have been arrested, he added.

It may be recalled here that motor cycle borne assilants, with the face covered by crash helmets, had trespassed into the office of Shabnam Developers, run by Shamiulla, an ex-Corporator of Bangalore Mahanagar Palike and one person opened fire with a pistol killing employees Ravi (36) and Shailaja (37).

Fed urges govt to implement Nagarpalika scheme

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 16 (UNI) The Federation of Tamil Nadu Flat and Housing Promoters Associations (FTPA) urged the government to implement 'Nagarpalika' scheme in the state immediately. Supervalu opens Indian operations

Bangalore, Mar 14 (UNI) US grocery major Supervalu Inc today opened its Indian office here to support its strategic initiatives in the Information Technology sector. The company, Supervalu Services India Pvt Ltd (SSI), would be engaged in applications development, technology services, quality assurance and testing. Initially, the company had hired 25 associates and moving forward, it would grow to 150 by the year-end, company Chief Information Officer Paul Singer said at the inauguration.
