Education institutions to remain closed till Sunday in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Government has declared closure of all educational institution in the Kashmir valley till Sunday following heavy snowfall.

This decision was taken for the entire valley, including Srinagar, Kargil and Drass.

The schools will now reopen on March 20, as March 19 is a holiday on account of Navratra.

The government had announced two days holiday on March 13 and 14 due to snowfall. However, keeping in view the inclement weather, it decided to order closure of the educational institutions till March 18.

The Kashmir University has also postponed entrance examinations for different post graduate courses as majority roads to far flung and remote areas were closed due to heavy snowfall.

The educational institutions reopened in the Kashmir valley and Kargil district on March one after three month winter vacation.

Vaishno Devi holy yatra resumed, Governor visits base camp

Jammu, Mar 13 (UNI) Thousands of people resumed their pilgrimage to the Vaishno Devi shrine from the Katra base camp today after the authorities reopened the route. Jammu and Kashmir Governor Lt Gen (Retd) S K Sinha visited Katra, and took stock of the measures taken to evacuate stranded pilgrims in the wake of incessant rains and arrangements for their lodging, medical assistance and restoration of the yatra. Foreign cement major has bought stakes in two cement plants in HP

Shimla, Mar 13 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Industries Minister Kuldeep Kumar today said two major cement companies in the state have sold their equity in their cement manufacturing units in Himachal Pradesh to a multinational company. Relying to a question by Major Vijaii Singh Mankotia (Congress) during Question Hour in the Assembly, he said that Wholesome Group, a foreign concern, had purchased 39.54 per cent stakes in the two units of ACC Limited at Barmana and 31.19 per cent stakes in.....

Unseasonal rainfall lash MP, 16 killed

Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) Sixteen people were killed when lightning struck them in separate incidents in the past 24 hours in Madhya Pradesh even as unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm lashed the state's northern and north-eastern part causing heavy damage to crops. Two women and three children of a family were killed after lightning struck them in Rewa, whereas four more people died in separate incidents there. In Sidhi, five people were killed and two injured. One person was killed and one.....
