Disturbed woman sets herself, son ablaze

Surat, Mar 13 (UNI) A woman, who was mentally disturbed after her husband tested HIV +ve, attemped suicide by setting herself and her son ablaze.

Bavanaben, wife of a diamond trader, residing at Sita Nagar in Poonagam area here, tried committing suicide last night by setting herself and her one-and-half-year-old son on fire, police sources said.

Both of them were rusehd to a civic hospital where her son succumbed to injuries. She is undergoing treatment for her severe burn injuries.

She has been charged with the murder of her son, sources added.

Five women killed as heap of clay caved in

Akola, March 13 (UNI) Five women of a family met with tragic end when a heap of white clay was caved in on them at village Malegaon under Jaulka police station bordering Washim district last evening. According to police, the deceased belonged to one family and were identified as Savita Prashant Athwale (25), Gokula Ashok Athwale (16), Uma Devidas Athwale (22), Rupali Shivdas Athwale (13) and Ujwala Madan Athwale (35). Akola, March 13 (UNI) A person was killed on the spot as he was trapped in the fodder cutter while taking a trial at village Nimkarda near here yesterday. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Shankar Satarkar, who along with his son Nilesh, was taking trial of the fodder cutter with the tractor.
