CHESCOM Assistant Engineer caught redhand while accepting bribe

Madikeri, Mar 13 (UNI) A CHESCOM Assistant Engineer was caught red hand by Lokayukta sleuths while accepting bribe for showing official favour.

Lokayukta sources said that Srinivas was caught red handed while accepting Rs 5,000 as a bribe to install transformer from Capt. Madappa of Hulugunda near Siddapur yesterday.

Capt Madappa had applied for regularization of 20 H.P. motor to draw water from Cauvery River. He had paid Rs 28,000 fee and deposit to the Electricity Department. But Srinivas was demanding Rs 5,000 bribe to erect a transformer to enable Capt Madappa to pump water.

On receiving a complaint by Capt Madappa Madikeri Lokayukta officer Divakar and his staff laid a trap and caught Srinivas.

Water level in major Kerala reservoirs declines

Kochi, Mar 16 (UNI) Water levels in major reservoirs in Kerala have decreased, according to the Central Water Commission (CWC). As per figures released by the CWC for the week ending March 12, the water level at Idukki decreased from 2357.20 ft to 2354.50 ft, at Idamalayar from 495.14 ft to 489.83 ft, and at Kallada from 346.59 ft to 341.21 ft. When compared with the water levels recorded during the same period last year, Kallada, Idukki and Idamalayar reservoirs.....

Sun Microsystems and NIIT Partner to offer solaris training

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Sun Microsystems today announced extension of their partnership with NIIT, Asia's largest IT trainer, to offer training in the growing Open Source Computing through Sun Solaris Traing Programme. As part of the alliance NIIT would offer specialised training programme through its network of education centres as well as specialised solaris labs to be set up in key metros. Eleven arrested in connection with Feb 15 shootout in the City

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved a shoot out in the city on February 15 in which two people were killed with the arrest of eleven people and is seeking interpol's assitance to nab the main accused. City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutharao told newsmen here today that six teams of City Crime Branch (CCB) and local police formed specially to nab the culprits have succeded in nabbing the accused in shootout in the office of Shabnam Developers.....
