CBI inquiry into 'missing' of MLA's son

Ranchi, Mar 13 (UNI) The Jharkhand government today said the CBI would inquire into the 'missing' case of BJP Legislator Kunti Singh's son.

The CBI decided to take up the case after receiving a report from the state police, which were previously investigating the matter.

Rajeev Ranjan, Ms Singh's son, had been 'missing' for the past three years and the matter was being investigated by the state police.

Responding to the call attention motion, raised by suspended BJP MLA Ravindra Rai, Deputy Chief Minister Stephen Marandi said CBI inquiry would be conducted into the matter after getting a report from the state police.

Earlier, Mr Rai said Rajeev Ranjan had gone missing following accusation that he was involved in coal trader Pramod Singh's murder three years back.

The case is currently being inquired by the CBI.

MLA Kunti Singh demanded that the matter should be inquired by the same team, which was investigating Pramod Singh's murder.

No immediate US visa to Geelani

Sriangar, Mar 14 (UNI) The United States has informed ailing Syed Ali Shah Geelani, chairman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference (HC), that he cannot be issued immediate visa to travel to that country. Mr Geelani was informed by the officials of the US embassy in New Delhi that it will take at least one month to grant visa to him, his wife and son, a spokesman of the HC Aiyaz Akbar told UNI. Inquiry ordered against Panchayat Sevak

Patna, Mar 13 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today ordered a thorough inquiry into the alleged irregularities committed by Gram Panchayat Sevak of Rajchaura Rajpur panchayat in Lakhisarai district. Talking to reporters here, Mr Kumar said order for the probe had been issued following receipt of complaints against the Panchayat Sevak, Ravindra Yadav. Iraqi children undergo treatment in AIMS

Kochi, Mar 14 (UNI) Five children from Iraq succesfully underwent cardiac surgeries at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) here. According to an official release here today, four of them, who had completely recovered, would return to their homeland in a week's time. The other child was still recuperating at the hospital.
