CBI conducts raids in false insurance claim case

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 13 (UNI) Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today conducted raids at several places here, including the office premises of leading advocates, in connection with the fake insurance claim racket.

According to reliable sources, the CBI sleuths led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishnamurthy searched several places including the residence and office premises of advocates and insurance agents.

The CBI officials were tight lipped over the raids and refused to divulge any details.

A CBI team had on November 30, 2006 arrested four persons, including a police inspector of the Pudukottai District Crime Branch and a sub-inspector of Meemisal Police Station in Pudukottai District in connection with a false insurance claim case.

The case pertains to the claim made for Rs ten lakh with the National Insurance Company (NIC).

Hallmarking of gold jewellery compulsory from Jan 1, 2008

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) Hallmarking for all gold jewellery items will become compulsory from January 1, 2008, the Rajya Sabha was informed today.
