Cauvery issue to dominate budget session

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) The budget session of Karnataka Legislature will begin with a two-day special session on Cauvery issue from tomorrow.

The session has been advanced by two days to March 14 to discuss the Cauvery water sharing issue in the House.

The budget for 2007-08 will be presented by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister B S Yediyurappa.

Mr Yediyurappa will be presenting his second budget.

The issues of banning of arrack and holding of Council elections will be taken up during the budget session.

Opposition Congress is all set to focus the failure in the administration of the state by JD-S-BJP coalition government.

Pondy Budget Mar 28

Puducherry, Mar 16 (UNI) Chief Minister N Rangasamy who also holds the finance portfolio will present the Budget for 2007-08 in the Assembly at 0930 hours on March 28. Legislative Assemby Secretary M Sivaprakasam issued the official notification today. Eleven arrested in connection with Feb 15 shootout in the City

Bangalore, Mar 13 (UNI) Police today claimed to have solved a shoot out in the city on February 15 in which two people were killed with the arrest of eleven people and is seeking interpol's assitance to nab the main accused. City Police Commissioner Neelam Achutharao told newsmen here today that six teams of City Crime Branch (CCB) and local police formed specially to nab the culprits have succeded in nabbing the accused in shootout in the office of Shabnam Developers.....

AP targets Rs 20850 crore CT collection in 2007-08

Hyderabad, Mar 16(UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today directed the Commercial Taxes department to increase revenue collection to Rs 16,300 crore by this fiscal and to Rs 20850 crore in next fiscal. Reviewing the performance of the department along with Finance Minister K Rosaiah, he said there was evasion in the petroleum sector and asked the officials to strengthen and modernise the check posts on the border.
