Burnt counsellor dead

Jabalpur, Mar 13 (UNI) A counsellor who was doused with kerosene and set ablaze on March 6 at the local Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital, by a patient who was refused medicine, has died during treatment in Delhi, hospital sources said.

Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, who suspected himself to be an AIDS sufferer, was at the hospital for consultation and targeted Sanjay Shrivastav before fleeing. He was arrsted within hours while hiding on a hill near the hospital. Mr Shrivastav sustained 80 per cent burns.

''He received treatment at the hospital for a couple of days but was subsequently rushed by air ambulance to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital following a state government directive. He succumbed last night,'' said Hospital Superintendent Pradeep Kasar.

India faces dire shortage of endoscopists,gastro specialists:Doctors

Ahmedabad, Mar 3 (UNI) There is a major shortage of endoscopists and gastroenterologists in India, with only one-third of the medical institutes in the country providing such specialised courses. Doctors participating in 'Endocon 2007', an annual scientific meet of gastrointestinal endoscopy which began here today, voiced these concerns at a press conference.
