All incoming and outgoing flights cancelled in Kashmir

Srinagar, Mar 13 (UNI) Air traffic in Kashmir remained suspended for the second day today as all the incoming and outgoing flights were today cancelled due to heavy snowfall.

Official sources said no flight operated from Srinagar airport as over two feet of snow had accumulated on the runway which has also become slippery.

Barring one, all flights were cancelled yesterdau due to snowfall and poor visibility.

About a dozen flights are operating between Srinagar-Jammu and Delhi daily. However, due to snowfall and poor visibility all the flights have been cancelled.

Hundreds of passengers had to return back from the airport after cancellation of flights.

" We were issued boarding cards and after going through the security checks at the airport, we were told that flights had been cancelled due to snowfall," spokesman of the breakaway Hurriyat Conference Aiyaz Akbar told UNI.

The Srinagar-Jammu national highway is already closed for traffic since yesterday due to heavy snowfall, landslides and shooting of stones at Penthal and about two to three feet of snowfall between Qazigund to Banihal.

Meanwhile, the tourism department had made arrangements for the stranded tourists from Mumbai and other states in south Kashmir.

Efforts are also being made to bring back a number of foreign tourists stranded on the highway.

Assembly adjourned over crops loss due to rains

Jaipur, Mar 13 (UNI) Rajasthan Assembly was adjourned for the day today as pandemonium prevailed over the issue of crop loss due to heavy unseasonal rainfall and hailstorm. The Question Hour could not be conducted as legislators demanded compensation for the heavy losses suffered by the farmers in many districts across the state. Cong protests shifting of bus stand in Bhopal

Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) The opposition Congress members today staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly protesting against the shifting of Indore-bound buses to a new bus stand at Lalghati in the state capital without providing adequate infrastructure.
