18 killed, 33 injured as bus plunges into gorge

Dehra Dun, Mar 13 (UNI) At least 18 people were killed and 33 others injured, 21 seriously, when a bus plunged into a deep gorge at Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand yesterday, police said today.

police said, the bus carrying a marriage party was returning to Kolhu Bannu, Chopta, from Ghengharkhal, when the ccident occurred on Tilwada-Saunrakhal Marg.

Thirteen passengers died on the spot and five succumed to injuries in Hospital, the sources added.

Five have been admitted to the Jollygrant Hospital and one referred to Delhi.

Others with minor injuries have been admitted in the Rugraparayg Hospital.

Cong protests shifting of bus stand in Bhopal

Bhopal, Mar 13 (UNI) The opposition Congress members today staged a walkout in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly protesting against the shifting of Indore-bound buses to a new bus stand at Lalghati in the state capital without providing adequate infrastructure. Dehradun lashed with heavy hailstorm

Dehradun, Mar 13 (UNI) Dehradun city was today lashed by heavy hailstorm after more than 50 years. Though the hailstorm occurred for just 10 minutes at 1445 hrs the whole capital city was covered with about two inches of white hailstorm. Where children were seen enjoying it by throwing the Hailstorm at each other, the adults were seen busy taking photographs. It is likely the wheat and other crops and Mango and Lichi might be effected. Clear wheather suddenly changed gloomy.....

Rain-hit farmers exempted from payment of tax on crops

Jaipur, March 13 (UNI) Farmers in Rajasthan who have suffered heavy losses due to unseasonal rains will be exempted from paying taxes on crops. Stating this in the Assembly, the State Relief Minister Dr Kirori Lal Meena said apart from tax exemption, relief works would be started along with rephasing of cooperative loans to farmers. Dr Meena said district collectors have already been issued instructions in this regard. All farmers who have suffered more than 50 percent losses to their crops.....
