12 held for violence in Indore

Indore, Mar 13 (UNI) Twelve people were arrested in connection with the clash between members of two communities in the sensitive Toda area of the city last night, police said today.

Police lobbed tear-gas shells and used mild force to control the situation.

Superintendent of Police Anshuman Yadav said further arrests were being carried out. He denied reports that police fired shots in the air.

Report of explosion after the violence was also not confirmed.

Violence had broken out over an argument related to filling water on March 11. However, it was also being said that the argument started after some girls were reportedly eve-teased.

Last night, an argument between two people following a minor accident acquired communal overtones leading to throwing of stones between members of two communities.

Additional police force were deployed in the area to monitor the situation.

Meanwhile, police carried out searches in Chhatripur Police Station limits and seized a crude gun from a house. A woman was taken to the police station for questioning in this connection.
