Unseasonal rains in Jaipur and Alwar affect normal life

Jaipur, Mar 12(UNI) The unseasonal heavy rains with thunder showers in Jaipur and Alwar district today evening have thrown out of gear normal life in the area.

The rain, lashed with strong winds and thunder resulting in uprooting of trees and collapsing of billboards, put up on the streets in the capital. The collapsing of the bill boards on the electric lines snapped power connection in many areas in the capital city for hours . The commuters also had a hardtime due to water logging on the streets.

According to reports from Alwar, the tin sheds of many factories in the Bhiwadi industrial area were blown away by the strong winds.

The district experienced heavy rains with hailstorm in the evening leaving front glasses of the vehicles broken and roofs of houses damaged. There were reports of rains in Ajmer, Jodhpur, Bikaneer, Jaisalmer, Sikar and Churu districts.

Punjab government transfers 11 district police chiefs

Chandigarh, Mar 12 (UNI) In yet another major administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government tonight transferred 11 district police chiefs and 19 other senior police officers. According to official orders, Rakesh Aggarwal will be the new SSP of Kapurthala , while Mrs Anita Punj will take over as District police chief of Hoshiarpur. Arun Pal Singh has been posted as SSP Nawanshahar, P K Sinha SSP Ropar, and Kapil Dev as SSP Faridkot. Arpit Shukla will be the new SSP of Jalandhar,.....

BJP MLA injured in car accident in Punjab

Ludhiana, Mar 12 (UNI) Punjab BJP MLA Surjit Kumar Jayani and two others were injured when their car collided head-on with another vehicle near Neelon on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana Highway this evening, police here said. Mr Jayani, who represents the Fazilka assembly constituency, was returning to his village in Ferozepur district after attending a party meeting at Chandigarh. The other injured included the BJP MLA's cousin brother and his gunman. They were all admitted to the Appolo Hospital here. Their condition was.....

4th Indian generation satellite 'INSAT-4B' launched successfully

Bangalore, Mar 12 (UNI) India's latest fourth generation satellite 'INSAT-4B' aimed to give a fillip to the Direct-to-Home TV transmission began its space odyssey today as it successfully hurtled into a geosynchronous transfer orbit by a heavy Ariane-5 launcher at the Spaceport of Kourou in French Guyana. The Ariane-5 blasted off at around 0433 hrs with a twin passengers of the British Military satellite Skynet 5A and INSAT-4B. In a precise operation, the launch separated INSAT-4B for around 31 minutes after.....
