Trial court remands 33 accused in riot case to 14 day JC

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) A city court today remanded 33 people accused of rioting in 2001 to 14 days judicial custody.

Metropolitan Magistrate Vinay Singhal sent all the accused in judicial custody till March 25.

However, two accused managed to escape from the court and only 31 accused were taken into custody.

In July 2001, a mob, led by Choudhary Salahuddiun, allegedly attacked the house of complainant Mohammad Shamim in Sadar Bazar.

The trial court had issued summons for to the accused in 2004. Subsequently, the accused approached the High Court for bail but it directed them to appear before the trial court.

Tihar undertrial hangs self, no suicide note found

New Delhi, Mar 12 (UNI) A 32-year-old undertrial at the high security Tihar but was today found hanging at No 3 barracks. Salil George, convicted for a murder in South Delhi's Sriniwaspuri area in 2004, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in Jail No 3 barracks at 0730 hrs, according to the Tihar spokesman. However, no suicide note has been found and the cause of the suicide still unknown, he added. UNI.....
