Six persons guilty of murdering municipality chairman

Barasat, Mar 12 (UNI) A Sessions Court here today found former Dum Dum Municipality Chairman Sudhir Bhattacharya and five others guilty of murder.

The court found Sudhir Bhattacharya, the political guru of many CPI(M) stalwarts in West Bengal, and five other accused guilty of murdering Dum Dum Municipality Chairman Sailen Das in 2001 and sent them to jail.

Police said about 12 people were arrested in this regard.

Additional District and Session Judge Sunil Chandra Barai while announcing the verdict held the prime accused Bhattacharya and his associates guilty under sections 120B, 302, 120, 34 IPC.

The final hearing of the accused would be held tommorow.

Foq disrupts flight schedules, 20 flights delayed, 20 diverted

Passenger arrested for bomb scare on board Indigo flight

Kolkata, Mar 12 (UNI) The passenger of the Delhi-bound Indigo flight, whose bomb scare forced the flight to return to Kolkata last night, was arrested early today. The passenger, Ms Mehak Ahuja, had reportedly sent an SMS to her father, claiming there were some 'extremists' on board. DU all set to crackdown on anti-social elements during Holi

New Delhi, Mar 2 (UNI) With Holi just a few days away, the Delhi University has put in place a slew of security measures to crack down on anti-social elements on the campus and its affiliated colleges.
